Since the entry into force of the US EPA Vessel General Permit at the beginning of 2014, ship owners must use biodegradable lubricants (wherever an oil to sea interface is possible) for all ships navigating in American waters. At this time, PANOLIN launched the GreenMarine concept.
Like in the 1980, 1990ies competition has set on low price products e.g. canola oils. But these could not meet the technical requirements and failed. Then, as now, it became clear that PANOLIN's saturated synthetic esters offer significant advantages in terms of performance and longevity.
While numerous EALs on the market are struggling with problems today, PANOLIN has now filled over 350 ships. PANOLIN STELLA MARIS and other lubricants are used in various applications and to this day we have not received one single complaint!
