PANOLIN is a frontrunner as a producer of bio oil-products. They are fully synthetic, meeting highest requirements. Some bio oils are made from renewable resources and are biodegradable. These bio oils are useful in their natural form, but adding appropriate additives enhances the performance in different settings. PANOLIN lubricants stand out with a full range of bio oils to versatile applications and cost advantages through longevity.
The bio-based oil has higher lubricity than that of the mineral-based lubricant. For instance, the viscosity index of the bio oil can be as high as 223, while that of most mineral based lubricants ranges between 90 and 100. The oil that has high viscosity is more stable in fluctuating temperature conditions than the oil with a low viscosity index. The viscosity factor explains why bio oils perform better under pressure and temperature.
ISO 15380
We refer to hydraulic fluid as the "lifeblood" of hydraulic systems because it not only transmits power, but also transmits heat to cool components, maintains pH, as well as removes water, oxygen and other contaminants. It means, choosing a high-quality hydraulic fluid is an important decision, and one that should not be rushed. In the past, manufacturers have relied on international standards such as ISO6743-4, ISO 15380, ISO12922 and DIN 51524.
ISO 15380:2016 specifies the requirements for environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids and is intended for hydraulic systems, particularly hydraulic fluid power systems. The purpose of this International Standard is to provide guidance for suppliers and users of environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids and for the direction of original equipment manufacturers of hydraulic systems. Concerning the groups contained in ISO 6743-4, only four types of environmentally compatible hydraulic fluid are covered by this International Standard. These are the HETG, HEPG, HEES, and HEPR categories.
As a test method for the biological degradability, the test methods have proven themselves according to OECD 301x internationally established. These test procedures are also accompanied in the current standard ISO 15380 and are also available for the common eco-labels such as EuroMargerite or Blue Angel are the main award criteria.
The bio oil lubricant is biodegradable, meaning that it has a less negative impact on the environment. In case of oil leakages and spillage, the bio-based fluids are readily biodegraded, unlike the mineral-based that persist in the environment and potentially harm the plants and animals in the affected areas. On the same note, the biodegradable oils are renewable, meaning that they are more environmentally responsible than the mineral oils which are made from non-renewable resources. The bio-based oil lubricant is more sustainable than the mineral oils in the long term.
PANOLIN focuses on sustainability and eco friendliness. All EALs are tested on their impact on the environment. The lubricants from PANOLIN are all awarded labels for eco friendliness that officially prove the fulfilment of highest environmental standards. On top of that, PANOLIN oils stand out with longevity, cost savings and are improving the operation of the machinery.
